Feb 7, 2007 - POTD

No botanicals today because I'm just so glad I got a few shots of my stepson. He is 16 and does not want to take his picture very often. It snowed a lot last night so we walked to the bottom of the hill and I asked him to lean against my great grandmother's old house. He had his toboggan on and the old painted wood looked great with this look I think. I didn't get any cath lights in his eyes(not sure how to do this outside with lots of snow???Do I need a reflector of some kind? Anyways I cropped and ran some conversions on the pics. Which do you prefer?

Wow, he doesn't look 16. I would have guessed two to four years older. These are good. Like what you used for the background and the mood in the black and white.

He looks older than my 18 yo DS. Glad you got him to pose for you. It looks like your focus may have fallen on the building instead of him. His eyes would have come out a bit more maybe if his cap weren't so low. Just moving it up a bit would have helped a bunch.

He does not look 16! He looks like a MAN :) Handsome to boot! I have three stepkids. 10,8, and 6. I don't find to many other stepparents except on the net ;) I really like the color picture. He must be psyched to see the photos you take of him! This looks like a magazine cover! Thanks for all the comments. By the way, I took the music off my blog site - it was totally scaring some people who fogeot they had speakers. I actually did it one day (went to my blog) and forgot and freaked myself out... lol Great pics!

Yep, he definitely looks older than my 16 year old! Mine can't wait til he can grow a beard of some kind! He's almost there... I really like the composition of this--and his expression. Great capture! The only cc I have is that the background looks a little blown to me in places. Maybe it's just what it is?? Anyway, great shot!

I like this shot a lot too. I like the color of the building behind him, but it brings more attention to his dark eyese.
I might try a slightly tighter crop (a little less dark coat), and maybe play around with lightening his face a bit.
Beautiful shot, I'll bet he's proud (and I'd bet wouldn't say so).
:)

Hi Hope,
I really like the b&w verion!!..it looks great. I agree with jenluvs2scrap that having the cap up a bit higher would have helped with the catchlights.
TFS!!
